Hi Vera, tell us a bit about yourself?

I'm a half Swedish, half Finnish surfer/photographer/animal lover who since about two years have been living in Sri Lanka. I came here after I left my job back in Stockholm just to get a break before getting a new one but then I fell in love, found a dog and now 2 years later I am still here living my dream life with my partner, 6 dogs and a cat. Photography has always been a hobby and I used to tell myself that I'm gonna be a photographer in my next life, and when I moved here to Sri Lanka I kind of realised that this was my next life or at least a new chapter where I had the opportunity to try something new. So I followed my dream to make photography my job and I'm so happy I had the courage to do it. I love to shoot people so I mostly do lifestyle and portrait photography but I also just got a water housing so I started shooting surf as well. Since I've been surfing for the past 10 years and surfing is a big part of my life its so fun to try to capture the joy of surfing as well as the beauty of the ocean. When I don't take pictures or surf I dedicate a lot of my time to helping the street dogs here in Sri Lanka.

So you did a pleasant editorial. what are your thoughts behind it?

We live a pretty slow paste life here on this tropical island so I just wanted to show a bit what that life looks life and some of the little things that makes this place special.

If you should name your pleasant editorial, what would you call it?

Lanka life

What does ”make waiting pleasant” mean to you?

I think for me its about trying to be present in the moment and let go of frustrations and stress about the past or future.

As a photographer, what's your dream task?

Hmm I don't know if I have one, I'm just so happy and grateful that photography is my job so that is kind of my dream right there. I do also look forward to my first exhibition though.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would that be?

Oh wow that is a big question, especially now when the world is so messed up. There are a lot of things I would like to change so its hard to just name one but I think if we all showed more compassion and kindness to others, people and animals as well as to our planet we would come a long way.

Do you have a favourite piece of clothing?

I'm really into stripes so I love the long sleeve striped shirt that is featured in the editorial.

What's the meaning of life?

To love and be loved.

THANKS A LOT VERA! Stunning work.
